Max’s father is Dr. David Simon, CEO of The Chopra Center of Wellbeing, the organization founded by Deepak Chopra.  Dr. Simon is also a trained neurologist.  Six months ago, Dr. Simon noticed that he had lost significant eyesight on his right side.  He ordered appropriate tests on himself, and discovered that he has a serious and life threatening brain tumor.

As someone who has a child who survived cancer at age fourteen, I understand clearly and painfully how difficult news of this type is for both the patient and his family.  I know many people reading this article can relate, and all of our hearts go out to this man we have never met.  Extraordinarily, Dr. Simon and his family have decided to create a video record of his journey and their experiences, to demonstrate the power of love in a time of personal crisis.

The Pachamama Alliance is a collaborative effort between an indigenous tribe residing in Ecuador and Peru and a group of individuals in North America, to teach all the people of the modern world about the dangers we have created in our world, the unexamined assumptions that these dangerous developments are based on, and suggested ways to change our assumptions and beliefs, and restore balance to our world and ourselves.

The core unexamined assumption they point to is “We Are Separate,” meaning that people in general believe that they are separate from other people, from the Earth and all that is in it, and from the Creator.  The people in the Alliance believe that is an incorrect assumption, that in fact We Are All One.

This is exactly the core belief of Humanity’s Team, mentioned earlier.  It is also one of my own core beliefs, as mentioned in my book, my blog and my talks.  God created the entire universe, including each of us.  In fact, God created each of us as parts of God.  We humans are all one with each other, and one with the animals, plants, rocks, dirt, etc.  We are all one with God.

Whatever we do to another, we also do to ourselves.  Whatever we do to ourselves, we do to all others.  If most of the people living in this world recognize and accept this belief, many of our problems will simply disappear.
